Artists Offer Licensing Opportunities and Licensing Possibilities

ARTIST PLANS TO TURN WHIMSY INTO SOLID PROFITS

ARTIST ARTREPRENEUR OFFER UNIQUE INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES
FOR POTENTIAL INVESTORS.

Artist, Ray Gatica, believes artists and creative people may offer unique investment opportunities, which fly under the usual investments radar screens. The endeavors are varied in scope and potential, but are opportunities that can definitely payoff for potential investors. Most likely, we have all heard the term "entrepreneur".  Now, from Humble, Texas comes "artrepreneur".  “An artrepreneur”, according to artist Ray Gatica - "is an artist with creative and artistic skills coupled with the business sense and drive of an entrepreneur".  Gatica created the term to best suit what he does. He developed The Official Baby Watcher (The OBW); a.k.a. The Lil Baby Watcher, intellectual property after a few years of researching the toy and licensing industries.  Gatica says the property is a fully developed and multifaceted, and lends itself to an array of marketing, promotional tie-in and licensing possibilities.
Who is the Official Baby Watcher? You ask. The Official Baby Watcher (OBW) is conceptual children’s character, created and designed by the artist.  The character is a special “Fanciful” Li’l Baby Watchman, (a little Silent Sentinel " that watches over babies and small children lovingly and dutifully. The character is an extension to The Official Baby Watcher storybook, where the character comes to life, written and illustrated by the artist.  The OBW character presents itself to the market via the primary item – a cleverly designed, child-safe, playable, plush doll that doubles as a decorative, stimulating wallhanging - for the baby’s room.  The idea is that when the baby is not playing with the doll - it is designed to hang on the wall where it performs its fanciful duty - to watch over the baby - hence the name – “The Li’l Baby Watcher”. The character’s name comes from the parents in the storybook after he saves the baby from harm.  Furthermore - The OBW is a “Fanciful” character with a “Real” Purpose and Mission – “to rally and unite families/children for the purpose of watching over babies’ and small children’s well being.”
Since, Gatica, would rather stay doing what he does best – creating and designing. He seeks to partner with a marketing firm like Walt Disney would be ideal. And, a business like Hallmark Novelty co would be a perfect compatible match to and handle the business of marketing the properties various facets. And/or a licensing agent seek licensees for various ancillary products would more than ideal too.

For those not familiar with the character marketing and licensing business, two good examples are the Walt Disney and Warner Brothers companies. They market Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny and Taz via dolls and plush characters created by licensed manufacturers, etc. There are other similar companies like the ones behind The Teen Age Mutant Turtles, Barney the Purple Dinosaur. These companies market their cache of characters, and license the trademarks (intellectual properties), character designs to clothing manufacturers, silkscreen companies etc. These companies have a stable of artist designing for them as they market their characters (intellectual properties).
Not flukes: The above properties were not flukes, they were whimsical ideas that were developed into Succe$$ful multimillion dollar intellectual properties – through the creator's vision and a company’s marketing licensing strategy. The OBW property lends itself to the this same success as the above mentioned properties.
Gatica, created the licensable character, a few years ago because, as he was shopping for a baby gift for a friends newborn baby and could not find anything suitable. So instead of settling on anything, just cute and simple, he went back to his studio to create his gift.
This is history in the making! “Just as Walt Disney launched his unique company years ago with a couple of characters (intellectual properties) we are on our way to making history with The OBW,” says Gatica. It not only has a mass market in the U.S., but also worldwide market possibilities, through licensing. The character and concept have been developed over a few years and based on years of research and development and from researching the toy and licensing industries. The company will continue to develop supporting characters and product while pursing licensors for the properties and, maybe, even land a film deal.

‘Fanciful’ Artistic Children’s Character has ‘Real’ Purpose and Mission.

Note: ‘The Official Baby Watcher’ (‘The OBW’),’the Lil Baby Watcher’ & ‘The Baby Watcher’ are all one and the same; the names are used interchangeably here in. The original name – “The Official Baby Watcher” came from the story on which the character is based. Go to read on how he got his name

Licensees, looking for a potentially hot successful properties via a baby’s/children’s character with a broad open worldwide multicultural market should consider the OBW for licensing, because anywhere babies are cherished the OBW is apropos. He is well rounded character/concept with an array of licensing and marketing possibilities.

Who is the OBW? You ask: Imagine a fanciful children’s character that has Real Purpose and Mission that by his loving nature and through it’s the heart-warming story is designed to capture the hearts of families.

It has a story that is its market vehicle. The story can very easily be translated in to video/movie. The OBW is designed to capture is multi-cultural worldwide market. Meet and see The Lil Baby Watcher at www.thelilbabywatcher.net.

Being  how the O.B.W. was created by an artist, the concept may seem a bit abstract, but it shouldn’t be...I only want families to accept him at face value – simply as a novelty little watchman with a Positive Wholesome Purpose and Mission – to rally the whole family for watching over  babies and small children” says Gatica. This is what makes his fanciful mission a warm reality.

“And just like Wob, I respect and care for small children and have taken the steps to fulfill the character's ultimate wish and have made him a playable, plush toy that doubles as a decorative wall hanging for the baby's room - so that he will always be in a baby' room - like he wished”, says Gatica.

A Few Words from the Artist: “There should be no mystery behind the OBW, he is simply a reflection of my caring for small children, and all living things.

Have you ever had a need to create something because you can't find anything like it anywhere in stores? This is how “The Li'l Baby Watcher” came to being. “I created the character a few years ago for a friend’s new born baby because I wanted to give the new baby a special, meaningful unique gift from the heart, something significant and with a purpose. I thought - the greatest thing I could give a child would be their very own personal guardian that would watch over them forever.” says artist, Ray Gatica.

Now, through the story book, and plush dolls everyone can share this warm thought with their own small family members and that of friends. They make the ultimate 'caring gifts from the heart' for all small children. I expect a discerning public, who expect more from a children's character, will support the character and help in spreading his mission world-wide.

Available for Licensing: A baby character designed to capture the hearts of the general family through its various product facets.

Have you ever had a need to create something because you can't find anything like it anywhere in stores? This is how “The Official Baby Watcher” came to being.

The original gift was a whimsical - two-dimensional, airbrush rendering poster, 18 X 24” (tall), of my, idea of what a baby watchman would look like if he were real; after all, anyone who takes on the rigorous position of watching over a child has to be strong, alert, and of course, physically capable.

On the Characters Physical Stature:  Overall he is a little peculiar, funny looking character with a large head with big eyes, big ears and short-short legs and he stands on two huge clumsy looking boots. And, even though he is a misfit of sorts, a cross between a funny looking clown and a dashing, little soldier he is neither; and instead of holding a rifle like a soldier he vaguely resembles, he holds a useless candy-cane stick with lollipops on top. The idea is that his big ears and alert eyes allow him to see and hear everything in the baby’s room.  He has wide shoulders, a barrel chest and big arms and sturdy, short legs with big feet to hold him upright sternly.  Actually, he’s a funny and peculiar looking misfit, but non-the-less, he’s well-formed physically.  The O.B.W. is a strong, debonair, healthy, wholesome looking character by design.  If he were real, there would be no doubt of his ability to physically act as a bodyguard and successfully watch over the children, hence his name ‘The Li’l Baby Watcher’.

On his uniform: Its official looking uniform was designed by Gatica, and hand made by Mrs. Lillian Baksa, a seamstress, and owner of the Doll Hospital in, Waterbury Connecticut. The uniform is somewhat military looking and then again it is not. It is supposed to just give him an air of 'officiality', while making him dashing and debonair. It also serves to make him more of a misfit being a cross between a funny clown and a soldier, because instead of him having a rifle over his shoulder like a soldier, would have, he has a harmless useless candy cane with lolli-pops on top.

This sculpture wound up being the basis baby gifts, the multicultural plush dolls that double as decorative wall hangings for the baby's room can be seen on the website. TheLilBabyWatcher.net.

“Now, through the story book, and plush dolls everyone can share this warm thought with their own small family members and that of friends. They make the ultimate 'caring gifts from the heart' for all small children. I expect a discerning public, who expect more from a children's character, will support the character and help in spreading his mission world-wide”, says Gatica.

Painting Kids Murals Fun for Artist

Kids murals are a fresh new way to decorate kids rooms. The ideas can be varied -like their names being written in a clean graffiti style to - tranquil, colorful beach scenes to - dolphins, and sharks for some. An experienced mural artist can cover a large wall area with color and design pretty quickly and in most cases inexpensively. So the cost can be contained depending on the artist’s experience and the client’s budget.

Doing murals for kids rooms can be fun for artists. It allows the artist to leave the serious side and relax and be whimsical. “I get to play with colors that don’t usually enter my mind for the more serious stuff that I do.” Says, Artist Ray Gatica. Gatica specializes in large murals and big art. He also paints a lot of the murals with the airbrush. He has does murals for home and business to - large architectural gym graphics mostly in Houston, TX.

Over the years, I have done a variety of things for kids. For baby, home, nursery murals, I have done little black baby angels for a baby in a home in the nursery, another one with animated, cartoon biblical characters of Noah’s Arc and the varied animals. There have also been baby portraits; life-size Tweety Birds with fluffy clouds in another home nursery and whimsical scenes roming hills, trees, with rabbits, happy clouds, butterflies and flying birdies.

At a commercial children’s’ nursery in Atasccita, Texas, we have done three murals one is based on Winnie the Pooh and other relative characters. Another one was a colorful, old fashion train with kids as passengers happily waving out the window.

For older children, ages 9 – 16, there have been underwater themes with dolphins and sharks. Not mean sharks, just a friendly one> But the 9 year old knew what he wanted, and knew they had to be anatomically correct, as he had a great interest in underwater life, (Marine Biology). Lucky for me, I had done similar things in a more serious setting so I was able to deliver and please his discerning taste. There have also been Rug Rat characters in a Bally’s nursery, in Humble Texas; there have also been life size, and larger sports players and sports team logos.

I have also done more sophisticated, XBOX themed game room murals, with Buck Rodgers flying machines, with kids riding their skateboards in space while being chased by a futuristic motorcycle policeman an “Intergalactic Speed Enforcement Officer”. In these murals, I put in 8 ft. tall, three-dimensional planets like Jupiter, Saturn and the moon. There have also been fishing and lake scenes for a 10 year old.

Another thing that works for this age group, is graffiti wall art, featuring their names with maybe, the school mascot or school colors along other radical colorful graphics I create as I paint.

The murals are painted with child safe latex and acrylic paints. I usually paint all the major parts with a brush or roller and then use the airbrush to soften shadows and edges. Ultimately, it gives the art a soft, three-dimensional effect that reflects my style.

The murals are fun for kids and act as conversation pieces and something they can show off to their friends. And, you know they like that!

BABY CHARACTER MAY EASE SIBLING RIVALRY

FANCIBLE BABY CHARACTER MAY EASE SIBLING RIVALRY
“Fanciful” Children’s Character has a “Real” Propose and Mission

The Official Baby Watcher is a licensable character. It is conceptual baby character that with its various facets is designed to capture the hearts of the whole family as they embrace it wholesome purpose and mission.

Have you ever had a need to create something because you can't find anything like it in stores anywhere? It happened to artist, Ray Gatica, from Humble, Texas, who created the “The Official Baby Watcher (The OBW or, The Li'l Bab Watcher are one and the same)”, an artistic, children’s character, born out of his imagination and a need for a meaningful baby gift with a purpose - for a friend’s newborn baby.

"I wanted to give the baby a special, meaningful gift, something significant, and with a purpose. I thought the greatest thing I could a give a child would be their very own personal guardian to watch over them, forever", says Gatica. From this thought, The O.B.W. concept and character were born. Now through the storybook, and plush dolls that double as decorative wall hangings for the baby’s room anyone can share this caring thought with their young family members. The dolls are available in assorted face and hair color combinations so that they can be shared with babies and small children of all nationalities.

It is not often that you can say a children’s character has a defining purpose and mission - much less redeeming, social value. “The OBW is more than just a character or a doll,” says Gatica, “he is a character with a purpose and mission because the story, on which the character is based, will inspire the family, especially children, to rally behind the character to watch over their smaller baby brother or sister (see Story Excerpt). In this way, I believe the OBW can be used as a small tool in minimizing sibling rivalry,” says Gatica. He expects that a discerning public, who expect more from a children's character, will support the character and help in spreading his mission world-wide.

Purpose and Mission: According to Gatica, The OBW is a "fanciful" character with a "real" purpose and mission - to rally and unite the families to become 'Official Baby Watcher's Helpers’ for the purpose of watching over babies and small children.

The artist, believes that The Official Baby Watcher story will inspire older siblings of babies and small children, and other family members to become extensions of the character - to help watch over the smaller siblings - to make it a better, safer place for small children. This thought, along with a couple of family-oriented products, based on the character and concept, are designed to elicit family participation - which will serve to help make his 'fanciful' mission a warm 'reality'.
A few words by the artist: “Being how an artist created the character, it may be a little too abstract, but I hope the public accepts it at face value –‘ as just a cute, caring character with a lot to goodness to offer the whole family.’ “There should be no mystery about the character, he is simply a reflection of my caring for small children,” concludes Gatica. Now through the dolls and story book, based on the character, everyone can share this warm heart-felt thought with babies and small children everywhere.

The basic products based on the character are: The storybook, the plush doll/wall hanging and “The Baby Watcher’s Helpers” T-shirts. Foreseeable licensing opportunities are ancillary products like are baby lamps, clothing, wall art posters,  baby monitors, etc.
On the character’s peculiar features: The character's peculiar looks and design are based on the story's description: a misfit character named Wob, with big eyes, big ears, and big nose and sturdy short-short legs with BIG funny feet. The idea is that - it is these peculiar features that allow him to be what he is, because, with his big eyes and ears he is able to see everything, and watch over the baby’s room. And, with his sturdy, short legs and funny big feet he is able to stand tirelessly and dutifully as he performs his watchman-duty -hence the name - The Official Baby Watcher. The above description has been carried over to the plush doll and assorted products.

The dolls are available in assorted face and hair color combinations to reflect our multicultural society and, are equally suitable for baby boys and girls. The dolls are first editions and are expected to become collector's items. “I expect they will be passed on through generations to become lovable keepsakes,” says Gatica.
